Myth:  Marijuana is a gateway drug.
Fact:  According to the Department of HHS' National Survey of Drug Abuse, which was done in 1997, "For every 104 people who have used Marijuana, there is only one regular user of cocaine and less than one of heroin."  And actually, according to most of the people I know that smoke or have smoke marijuana, their gate way to marijuana and other drugs was nicotine and alcohol. 

Myth:  Marijuana is Addictive
Fact:  Physically, no it is not in any way addictive.  Mentally, people can develop a dependence on Marijuana; however, it is the same dependence they can develop on many substances that are actually legal. 

Myth:  Higher Concentrations of THC in Marijuana can make Marijuana more dangerous.
Fact:  Actually, it can cause less smoke damage to the lungs than a lower concentration would.  Why?  It takes less to achieve the desired affect when it is more potent, then if you were to smoke a lot of lower potency weed.  (:

Myth:  Marijuana usage lowers motivation.
Fact:  Scientists have not been able to find any one person who suffers from amotivational disorders because of Marijuana. 

"The consequences for usage of substance, should not cause more damage than the substance itself."

According to DrugPolicy, more than 800,000 people are arrested for simple possession. 

Oh, and while it does not cure cancer, it can be a great relief to those who have it.  I've had family members who qualified for medical marijuana, and used it for exactly that, to relieve their symptoms.  As for the highly religious...

God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth.…To you it will be for meat." … And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. (Genesis 1:29-31) The Bible predicts some herb's prohibition. "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times, some shall … speak lies in hypocrisy … commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. (Paul: 1 Timothy 4:1-3)

 

The Bible speaks of a special plant. "I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more." (Ezekiel 34:29) A healing plant. On either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare 12 manner of fruits, and yielding her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Revelations 22:1-2) A gift from God.
